Working from home with kids by selling Ebay

I have three small children. I work on Ebay from home with my kids around me constantly. How does it work? My day starts something like this: 7:30am-the alarm goes off and seconds later, my youngest starts saying "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy". I get up say hello to him, and then off to the computer to turn it on and get it ready for another days work on Ebay. After I'm dressed, and all the kids are dressed, I fix breakfast for everyone and then quickly run upstairs to check on my Ebay. Most of the time when I am working first thing in the morning, I just quickly scan through "My Ebay", and take care of any of the most pressing needs, i.e. urgent emails, sending invoices so I can get paid and ship out orders in the afternoon. This takes me about 5 minutes and then back downstairs to clean up the breakfast dishes.  Throughout the morning, I will just slip in to the office and check on Ebay and make sure everything is running smoothly. On lunch break while the kids are playing, my husband and I try to package up and print out any shipping labels for the items that have been sold and paid for.  This is fun work since we get to work together.  When my youngest lays down for his afternoon nap, and if there is nothing pressing in the house to be done, I try to sit down and list a handful of items. Sometimes working like this in the afternoon is good, but other times it doesn't always work out. On average, you can usually list 5 different items from scratch, including having to take pictures of the items in about 1 hour. Ebay's listing online listing site is very easy to use once you get everthing set up. At 4pm, my husband comes home from his normal job and then helps finish up any last minute Ebay packaging that needs to go out for the day, while I finish up the shipping labels.  Hubby takes the packages to drop off at the post office around 4:45pm and that's the end of shipping for the day.

Working from home with kids by selling Ebay really does work well. It provides complete flexibility of schedule, and you can do it in bits and pieces.  The only "hard" work is the actual listing of the items and keeping everything all sorted out.  We currently have over 230 items on Ebay and keeping up with the demand is sometimes challenging.

After our kids go to bed (which is around 9pm), I'll sit down and try to put in another hour or so of work on Ebay before calling it a day.  Depending on what we list we average approx. $500-$1,000 a month just from doing the little bit of work.

One bad thing abour working from home with kids is that you can't take vacations without someone tending to your Ebay store. But, if that is the only bad side of working from home with kids, I'm O.K. with that.

Thanks for the read!
